In 2009, ARC had had programmes on several directions: it has supported the development within the non-profit organizations of efficient practice for fundraising from private donors, it has supported corporate community involvement, creating and developing community foundations, as well as creating a good enviroment for mobilizing resources in the community.

The activity of consultancy made for the wage-donation programme of BRD ’Change a Destiny’ had as a result the involvement of over 1000 employees of the bank as donors and financing 10 projects in the field of children protection and depreived young people from 5 cities in the country with over 130.000USD. In the second year the number of the donor-employees raised with 30% and most of the partnerships with NGOs are ongoing.

How can you improve the activity of fundraising of NGOs? Through consultancy oriented on solid evidence, learning, exchange of experiences and financial support for the fundraising activity.

Within the fund ’Resources for Viability’, the first 8 grants, with an investment of 50.000 RON generated 170.000 RON and over 1500 new donors the supported organizations. At the end of 2009 were given 4 new financing.

2009 was a premiere in the field of tuition programmes: the first postgraduate course with accreditated diploma of Mobilization of private resources, in partnership with Babes Bolyai University.

The Fundraising Conference has reached the sixth edition, reuniting 100 antendees from 50 organizations. 12 workshops, 3 plenary sessions and 10 resource persons offered practical, evergreen information and adjustable to the romanian context information. The event represents a networking opportunity and exchange of experience between the professionals of this field as well.

Two introducing courses offered beginners the chance to get to know basic notions of community fundraising. Six organizations have benefit in 2009 of consultancy. The network of fundraising practitioners, APARTE has 15 members and aims to duble that number in two years.

The sixth edition of People for People Gala brought a premiere: a special media jury had rewarded for the first time the best campaigns of media for promoting social involvement or fundraising campaigns. The edition from 2009 marked a record: the 118 nominee projects had a total value of 110 millions RON, in comparison with 44 millions RON from the prior edition.

In 2006, YouthBank was initiated by ARC in Romania, as part of the pilot initiative for founding Community Foundations in Cluj. In its three years, the programme supported in Cluj 50 projects initiated and run by young people, promoting their ideas for a better community regarding the enviroment, the health, the access to culture and sport and of social inclusion.
